Yuletide Blessings my friends,
This letter brings my heartfelt wishes for a truly joyous holiday season and an abundant New Year. In the Northern Hemisphere, December 21st is the longest night. The Winter Solstice is universally honored with ceremonies using lights in holiday traditions all over the world; indigenous cultures as well. People have burned bonfires, torches, candles, oil lamps, and electric light bulbs are strung around our homes. My mother used to tell me as a child that these traditions reassured us that longer days of light would be returning.
Since our holiday season includes the New Year Celebrations, it seems natural that we would reflect on events in 2018 for our personal lives as well as for our communities, the nation and the world. So much of the Shadow has been stirred up this past year where old trauma and rejected aspects of our selves have come to light. PTSD is being uncovered in many adults who have buried their early childhood abuse and/or later experiences including wartime trauma. These difficult aspects have also been revealed in the culture at large, including broken people with hate filled hearts. And then we hear of traumatic world events that may trigger fear or even guilt in us because our resources are greater than those in dire need.
The period from Samhain (October 31st) through early February is traditionally considered the time of going within. Discovering what is in your shadow (those parts we have split off as unacceptable or that did not help us fit into societal norms), is very much a part of this work. More and more healing methodologies are emerging that help with this process, including EMDR, group support, and therapy.

Another powerful healing modality is sacred plants. There are many South American and African countries where healing centers have been established with Shaman who are experienced in working with those who choose to allow the plants to teach them, revealing and then healing their old traumas. Healing our hearts and souls does make significant and lasting changes as we move forward in our lives. One such center I will mention is in Costa Rica. It is fully licensed as a healing clinic and staffed by many healers from various modalities in addition to Ayahuasca ceremonies led by experienced practitioners. Please go to Rythmia.com and see for yourself what it offers.
My wish for you this holiday season is that you will connect and re-connect to loved ones, find much to love about yourself, and to allow this time of going within to teach you what will help you heal your soul and touch your heart.
Love and light to all, Linda
