Joyous Spring Equinox my friends,
This year in the Northern Hemisphere, March 20th is the Spring Equinox when day and night will be equal in length at the equator. Also known as Ostara or Eostre (the origin of the name Easter) light and dark will be perfectly balanced.
In ancient traditions the Vernal Equinox is known as the time of Green Fire. It refers not only to sap rising, but also to the electrical energy pulsing through the growing plants. This is not a metaphor. My electrician husband told me that the green fire is literally electrical, just like our nervous systems. Humans and plants have the same oscillation frequency, which is why we can align with the energy of the plants when we pay attention. You will benefit when you spend time with green beings.
With spring, Mother Earth is renewing herself with this green fire and the miracles of new shoots and buds are everywhere. It is a very fertile period, offering the sense of possibilities in our hearts. However, there are also larger patterns occurring more often in nature such as severe hurricanes, tsunamis, wildfires and earthquakes.

Indigenous wisdom keepers have been warning us about the industrial and agribusiness practices that are harming the Earth. They have warned us repeatedly that the continual and unusual weather patterns occurring now are a clear message that the Earth is sick because of centuries of misuse of her resources.
In a documentary film with Alberto Villloldo, the Q’uero Elders prophecy with current portents that speak of upheaval and transformation in this time period because of the mistreatment of Pachamama. The Earth Wisdom Foundation (http://earthwisdomfoundation.net) contains videos predicting that people are becoming part of the ‘Warriors of the Rainbow’, choosing to be forces for the healing of the Earth, whether we call ourselves by that name, or join a community of green conscious people, or simply follow a path of low carbon footprint, sustainability, and clean living. Greg Braden tells us of the scientific experiments that establish the deep emotional connection we each have with our planet—what happens anywhere literally affects what happens everywhere. Our DNA is the link.
I hope you will offer your own ritual for the healing of Mother Earth. A Shoshone elder, Bennie ‘Blue Thunder’ Lebeau, a major earth healer who has passed, suggests these choices: using sound, toning and chants to sing the new songs filled with peace; prayers with the highest vibrations; setting up a medicine wheel with crystals; and visualizing Rose Energy or using rose essential oils to access the highest Love. Rather than fearing the future, use your heart to heal the Earth.
With great love, Linda
