Hello my friends,
The Fall Equinox is a the time of balance, and it is the second of the three major harvest festivals. It is also the Jewish New Year and a time of new beginnings. The Celtic name for this quarter day is Mabon: the season of storing foods and preserving nature’s bounty for the coming winter months. For me, personally, it is also a time of letting go. My last daughter graduated college in June and I just put her on a plane for Brazil yesterday where she will teach English for 6 months. I will miss her but this is her time to experience big adventures.
The turning of seasons is a wonderful time to pause and reflect on our lives. On Sept 22nd, day and night are equally balanced, and it is good to explore where you need rebalancing in your life. I encourage you to particularly reflect on how much of your energy and your presence you invest in your relationships: loving your spouses and children, sustaining friendships, supporting community (whatever group this means for you), and purposefully maintaining the most important relationship of all, your relationship with your self. Attention to your health and well being are the principle ways we demonstrate our commitment to caring for self, without which, no other relationship flourishes. I have recently become very interested in understanding what is produced in regional harvests since reading Barbara Kingsolver’s book, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and I am eating food mostly locally grown and in season (which is easier to do in San Diego). Preparing simple, organic and fresh food for myself is a big commitment for me in my busy life, as is regular Yoga and weight bearing exercise but they are reaping great benefits.
People often ask me “What’s the most important thing for good sex?” Well, there’s no easy answer because there are many factors. But if I were to pick one thing, I would say ENERGY. How you sustain your energy on a daily basis makes a big difference for your sexuality. With all the crazy pharmaceutical remedies being touted on the internet, TV ads and in medical settings, we can do so much more by eliminating the habits that drain us (you know the ones; those that waste your time, make you tired or take you away from inner wisdom and love) and adding the habits that really make a difference even as they take a bit of effort to establish. What we put into our bodies matters, how we move matters, tapping into the loving feelings of our heart centers matters and these are daily practices.
So in this wonderful season of Libra, sign of balance and harmony, please take more care, become more aware of your thoughts, actions and emotional states. Please know that when you love, you are truly who you are and find ways to move yourself into alignment with loving energy every day.
Blessings, Linda
