Hello and Happy Spring My Friends,
This is a time of new beginnings since the first day of spring is also the astrological New Year. It is also the time of balance; day and night are equal in length. In the Earth Honoring traditions, Spring Equinox is known as the time of the Green Fire. When I first heard the term, it was such an interesting concept to me. I began to pay attention to the energy of the plants at times when I would be sitting on a bench or walking out doors. I noticed the buds bursting around me or plants reaching up for the sun and I actually felt the growth of life as a kind of electric charge. Check it out on a sunny day; you might want to meditate in your garden or sit with a favorite plant. Pay attention to the green fire energy surging within all vegetation.
Spring Equinox, also known as Eostre or Ostara, will be celebrated on March 21st this year. It’s the seasonal moment to focus on the green and flowering landscape around us as well as the beauty reflected in the sun’s growing light. The qualities to explore and express are those associated with the East: beginnings, new growth, and courage. In addition, notice what shows up in your life that requires balancing and pay attention to what is stirring within you, ready to burst forth and blossom. It is a time to plant seeds (projects) and to clean out old patterns in your life as a “spring cleaning” of unwanted habits.
This is a wonderful time to sow seeds that will sprout during Beltane (May 1st), the peak of Gaia’s spring. This year, with the New Moon in Aries on March 22nd, it is an especially auspicious time to put forth your desires. For those who want to practice Feng Shui, look for the Career Corner in your home and place fresh flowers or a new plant there, along with symbols of your dreams. Finally, I want to announce a wonderful workshop I’ll be doing with Caroline Muir and Kamala Devi on April 15th entitled Weaving the Goddesses of Love, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at the Goddess Studio. To view the flyer, please go to http://www.goddess-studio.com/default_files/specialevent10.htm.
We are having such amazing rain in San Diego which our plants really need and the Green Fire will be very intense when the sun comes out. Enjoy and rejoice in your hearts that this is the best time to let your imagination soar.
